Molly

Molly the Goat’s official role on the farm is “Head of Problem Solving,” though no one actually remembers how she got the job and Molly can’t even remember that she even applied.

Whenever something on the farm breaks, a gate is left open, or a fence is missing a plank (the farmer blames “farm physics,” a force nobody understands but everyone respects), Molly arrives. She does not rush. She does not panic. She simply stands there, stares at the problem for a very long time, chewing. 

The farmer often says Molly didn’t fix problems in the usual way. She just makes them feel smaller.

Molly the Goat, for her part, has never confirmed this. She is currently chewing somewhere and unavailable for comment.
