Daffodils

What do daffodils dream of, while winter lingers above them?

Perhaps they dream of sunlight warming their petals.

Of open fields where spring weaves softly through the grass.

Or perhaps they dream of nothing at all

resting beneath the soil

waiting quietly until the earth softens its hold

and they rise into light once more.
